Elite men

Here come us girls!

Splits: 5:46, 6:02, 5:59, 5:57, 6:01, 6:01, 6:01, +21 seconds, I was confused while messing with the lap button, 5:59, 5:57, 6:05, 5:52, 5:53, 5:45, 5:42, 5:49, last .5 mile was at 5:38pace. (Sidenote- my last 5k of this race was faster than both of my 5k’s in Carlsbad and Boston. Apparently I need to run 12 miles before my next 5k. Seriously, what is wrong with me? haha!)

I felt so amazing at this race. Last week I was telling myself that this was going to be my breakthrough race. I have never, ever, felt so good during a race. I negative split the course, which has a more difficult and hilly second half. Let me tell you, that is the way to run! This is the first race I have negative split at and it makes a huge difference! Lesson learned!

I tend to totally tense my arms when I grind at the finish..need to work on that!

Thanks to the girls- Ruth Perkins and Caitlin Chrisman for starting our little 3 person pack. The first half of the course flew by. We were talking, taking turns leading, it seemed effortless! I am SO excited to run with them at the Olympic Trials! They are both such talented runners and I am so happy to have met them! Catch their pre-race interview here!

I ended up placing 10th and even winning prize money. Results here. The field was SO fast this year! I was looking at the elite list on Friday night and was psyching myself out because all of the girls had much better times than myself. My dad told me, just go out and have fun! That is what I did. The course was beautiful, the weather was perfect!

We tend to get overly excited about things in my family!

Not super happy. at all.

Mom and Dad!

Sunday- 8 miles recovery on treadmill 8:00 pace- POURING outside in Grand Rapids!

The weekend was perfect and I will definitely be running this race again! Oh, of course, I traveled with my Perfect Foods Bars!! YUM!!!!!

Matt and B-Rad celebrating!

It seems as though my iron-uptake is helping, so I am really excited about that. Our grocery bill is getting more expensive though.
